Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan (born 2 November 1965), also known by the initialism SRK, is an Indian actor, film producer, and television personality. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful and influential actors in the world. Khan has appeared in over 80 Hindi films in genres ranging from romance to action thrillers. He has received numerous awards, including 14 Filmfare Awards, and is one of the wealthiest actors globally. Khan is often referred to as the "Baadshah of Bollywood" and "King Khan."
Early life and education
Shah Rukh Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi to Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, an Indian independence activist from Peshawar, and Lateef Fatima. Khan grew up in the Rajendra Nagar neighborhood of Delhi, attending St. Columba's School where he excelled in sports and academics. He was awarded the school's highest accolade, the Sword of Honour.
After completing high school, Khan attended Hansraj College under the University of Delhi, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Economics. He also enrolled at Jamia Millia Islamia to pursue a Master's degree in Mass Communication, but left to pursue a career in acting.
Acting career
Shah Rukh Khan's acting career began in television in the late 1980s with the series Fauji (1989) and Circus (1989–1990). He made his Bollywood debut in the 1992 film Deewana, which was a commercial success.
In the following years, Khan established himself as one of the leading actors of Hindi cinema by starring in a series of successful films, including Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993), and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). Apart from acting, Khan is the co-owner of the production company Red Chillies Entertainment and the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. He has produced several films under the Red Chillies banner, many of which have been major box office successes.
Philanthropy
Shah Rukh Khan is involved in several charitable causes, including child health and education. Through his non-profit organization, the Meer Foundation, Khan has worked to support women and children affected by acid attacks. The Khan family resides in their lavish Mumbai home, Mannat, a tourist landmark in itself.
